THE TikiTaka METHOD

Background

TikiTaka, or the Spanish term tigui-taca, is nowadays primarily associated with Spanish football. In particular, after the commentator Andrés Montes named Spain’s swift passing play in a World Cup match with the words “tocando tocando tigui-taca tiqui-taca.” Listen at 0:37 seconds into this clip here.

TikiTaka is also a toy consisting of two small hard balls hanging from a respective string. The challenge is to get the balls to interact. This creates a TikiTaka-like sound. Not an easy task even for a more technical person. Just look at the players in the Argentinska River PlateBoca Juniors and Indipendiente.

Method

We have of course been influenced by both the fast passes and the toy. Just as the two balls in the toy interact, TikiTaka also have all the parts in football interact to form a whole. The full context cannot be viewed in isolation but must always be compared with the opposite parts.

In football practice, the TikiTaka method means that you from an overall perspective will get all the skills to interact in the game (technical, tactical, physical and mental). It involves, among other things, the ability to construct match similar situations with a high degree of decision making.

Vicente del Bosque, Spanish coach“…it focuses on the human world and player philosophy. We strive to play a game focused on passes, which is fast-paced with a high mobility and a good balance between short and long passes.”
Arsene Wenger, Arsenal”A good player sees the game, a really good player reads it.”
Joakim Lööw, German coach“Besides the technical and tactical development, the cognitive development of the players is also of great importance.”

The TikiTaka Method is based on four key factors

  • Overall perspective
  • Internal driving forces
  • Balance
  • Joy

The TikiTaka method is based on

  • Long experience
  • Proven techniques
  • Scientific studies
  • Analysis of successful clubs and nations

All this shows that a successful practice methodology and player development is based on a holistic perspective where internal driving forces, balance and joy are key factors. In our method we therefore include services and products that support and develop those factors in an optimal way.
